There is so much to meditate on in Mark chapter 4. Jesus, while talking in parables, stresses the importance of being fruitful, sharing our faith, and not hiding what He has given us.
But the thing that stands out the most to me, is at the end of the chapter. After Jesus calms the wind and waves, they ask, "Who is this? Even the wind and waves obey him!"(NIV).
We're talking about after they have witnessed Jesus heal many people of all kinds of diseases, illnesses, even a withered hand, and they are still so amazed at what He does, that they aren't sure who Jesus is. I realize they didn't have the New Testament to read as we do, but I'm still amazed they didn't know who He was. On the other hand, I have the New Testament, the Holy Spirit, Bible teachers, and I'm still amazed when He does some things for me and thru me. But shouldn't that be the normal, seeing God work in our lives, His church, His believers. It's not just "where was the faith of the disciples?", but where is our faith? Do we really understand who Jesus is? If we do, then shouldn't we act like it? Shouldn't others see Jesus in our lives? Shouldn't we be making a difference for Jesus?
